Like many of you, I was lucky enough to enjoy a beach holiday this summer. There is nothing like lounging in the Summer Sun, however all that glorious heat, sea and sand can play havoc with your hair and skin. So if you're looking for a little post holiday TLC, here are my mainly Natural and Organic After Sun Suggestions.
Body: I am loving the Evolve Organic Body Butter, even though itis more like a rich balm than a butter, but great. I mix this with Avocado Oil and sometimes also add my Laughing Bird Shea/Cocoa Butter
Hair: Sun and Sea hair is great by the ocean, not so much when you get home (unless you are lucky). For dry, brittle, sun exposed Hair, try PHB Monoi maskorLavera After Sun Repair which includes Shea butter, Sunflower and Sweet Almond oil as treatment masks. You can also try Sachajuan After-The-Sun which can be left in or rinsed out. I am rocking out my oils as usual but will be doing some masks on the weekend.
Face: If you have been good, and wore your hat and sunscreen, your face should not be too burned, but if you want to hold on to that glow, be sure to do many moisture treatments, masks and oils. I am a big fan of the Weleda Almond oil for the face which I was able to try on holiday and is a perfect light but moisturising texture. Grown Alchemist' Age Repair mask, is cooling for sensitive skin, but richly moisturising.
Avocoado Oil: This All round amazing healer I have been using for years and I have Long preferred it topically to Coconut oil. Check out this Article on the many benefits of Avocados and this article specifically on Avocado Oil. The oil is a great all rounder to soothe skin after sun exposure. Vitamine E, Potassium and Lecithin help feed strengthen the skin, while the Oleic Acid is soothing and anti inflammatory so great for treating a sunburn or soothing dry skin. Its high in Unsaturated Omega 3 Fatty Acids and absorbs quickly and deeply into the skin. I get mine from Aromantic. It is also great for dry hair as a conditionner and can relieve, dry, itchy or burnt scalp as well.
If you really burned, try slicing a chilled cucumber into thin rounds and placing them all over your face for a natural cooling, soothing and moisturising effect, and follow by a thin layer of a cooling moisturiser like Green People After Sun . For skin that has had a bit too much sun, you can also try Korres Yoghurt After Sun
